Global Forum: Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes

29-30 September 2010, Singapore

 

Since 2009, major progress has been achieved towards more transparency in tax matters. The Global Forum, which includes 94 member jurisdictions, is in charge of promoting progress. It was restructured in 2009 to address the G20 request for better tax cooperation.

 

More than 200 delegates will meet in Singapore on 29–30 September 2010 to discuss the first Peer Review Reports - Bermuda, Botswana, the Cayman Islands, India, Jamaica, Monaco, Panama and Qatar - and to adopt the Annual Assessment of the progress made. Both the adopted reports and the annual assessment will be made public. The Global Forum will also consider expanding its membership and will adopt a report to the G20 on the progress made towards tax transparency.

The following three media events will be open to accredited journalists only.

 

1.     Global Forum Background Briefing on Monday 27 September at 3.00 p.m. (SGT)

-   Mr. Mike Rawstron, Chair of Global Forum will lead the panel.

 

2.     Global Forum Opening Session on Wednesday 29 September at 9.00 a.m. (SGT) 

-  Opening speech by Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Second Minister for Finance, Singapore

 

3.     Global Forum Press Conference on Thursday, 30 September at 4.30 p.m. (SGT)

-   Mr. Mike Rawstron, Chair of Global Forum will lead the panel.
